Kamini Patel, the district president of the Janata Dal United (JD(U)) women's cell in Bihar, was violently attacked and paraded with a garland of slippers around her neck by a party colleague, Ward Councillor Sanjay Singh, and his supporters. This shocking event unfolded in Bairgania block, Sitamarhi district, after a dispute arose over Patel’s exclusion from a JD(U) event.
According to police reports, the incident was triggered when Kamini was not invited to a party program held on Wednesday. This exclusion led to extensive discussions on Facebook, where Patel and others expressed their discontent. On Thursday morning, Kamini approached Sanjay Singh's residence to discuss the matter, but a heated argument erupted between them.
Witnesses reported that Singh's supporters quickly surrounded Kamini, assaulting her severely. She was subsequently forced to wear a garland of slippers, publicly humiliated, and accused of theft. Videos of the incident, showing Kamini with a swollen face and visible bruises, have gone viral, sparking outrage on social media.
Following the brutal attack, Kamini was taken to a local hospital in an unconscious state and later referred to a healthcare facility in Muzaffarpur for further treatment. Police officials confirmed that Ward Councillor Sanjay Singh has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway to address the violence and humiliation inflicted on Kamini Patel.
Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Tiwari stated, “We have taken action, and it appears this incident stems from comments made on Facebook.”
